Trekking Sarcophagos of The Tiger

This trip will allow you to discover one of the most important and unique funeral traditions in the world: the sarcophagi of the tiger.
These are found in the Amazonian Andes, in the middle of the cloud forest. It is the perfect place to understand the history and funerary customs of the ancient civilization of the Chachapoyas.
Itinerary
Our excursion starts at 7:30 am, to travel for 2 hours to the community of San Jerónimo.
During the journey, we will enjoy beautiful landscapes of the Uctubamba Canyon. Upon arrival, we will meet our local guide and start a 1-hour and 45-minute walk through the cloud forest until you reach the tombs.
Then, we will have a 1-hour tour of the Chachapoyas cemetery, where we will learn about its mysterious funerary customs, we will view the sarcophagi and mausoleums in perfect state of conservation. Being here will help us to understand the funerary traditions of this ancient civilization.
After the visit, we will return to the community of San Jerónimo for lunch and then we will return to Chachapoyas, arriving in the city at approximately 5 pm.
