Day 1
Iquitos / Nauta / RNPS surveillance post
At 8 am we will leave for the city of Nauta, 100 kilometers from Iquitos, by private car. We will take a walk to get to know the small city of Nauta, which is older than Iquitos.
Then we will board our typical boat called "Pamacari" to navigate upriver by the Marañón River. During the trip, we will observe different riparian hamlets until we reach the Yanayacu/Pucate river, where we can see the grey and pink river dolphins. Later, we will go through the control at the surveillance post of the "Santo Domingo" farmhouse.
We will continue to the "Buenos Aires" community, where we will stay at the "Bromelias Tour Pacaya Samiria" tourist refuge, spending the night in cabins with mosquito net and shared bathroom. We will take a night tour to get to know the wildlife of the area.
Day 2
After breakfast, we will leave up the river to make a stop in a jungle area and explore the area observing the flora & fauna; where we will see different types of birds and monkeys.
In the afternoon we will fish for piranhas and other local species.
At night Canoe excursion Possibility to observe alligators and some other night species, fishing with arrow.
Finally, we will spend the night in the camp with tents or mosquito nets.
Day 3
Observation of birds in their natural habitat, also monkeys and other wild species by canoe. Then, we will enjoy lunch on board as we will be cruising into the jungle.
Afterwards, we will visit the native community called “Yarina”, we will interact with the locals and learn about their way of life.
Finally, we will embark on a Night Walk observing the wildlife of the area and we will spend the night at the community home.
Day 4
We will depart and head to Cocha El Dorado, where the surveillance post Canta Gallo is located. We will stay at the visitor shelter.
Added to the majesty of the Cocha is the beauty of the forests that surround it and the abundance of fauna, especially waterfowl, such as bands of herons and cushuros that will fly over the Cocha.
Dolphins are observed at any time of the day. There is a great abundance of fish and it is easy to see large lizards and alligators. On the shores, howler monkeys and other species can be seen. At sunrise and sunset, hundreds of parrots fly over the Cocha.
With patience, we will observe the Buoyada de los Paiches (Arapaima Gigas) and Arhuanas.
We will also see the largest rodent in the world: the capybaras or ronsocos.
Day 5
We will begin very early with a walk to observe birds, followed by an excursion through the El Dorado lake.
After lunch, we will return to the Yarina community to spend the night.
Day 6
After breakfast, we will leave for the city of Nauta.
On the way, we will make a stop at the Santo Domingo Surveillance Post.
Finally, we will arrive in Nauta where we will board our private mobility and travel to the city of Iquitos.
