5D/4N Montaraz – Camping
Day 1
Transfer from the airport or hotel. Walk through the Plaza de Armas, Matriz Church, Iron House, the boardwalk, and historic rubber boom mansions. Transfer to our Private Dock to board the Fast Boat with outboard motor. We will sail the Itaya River for 15 minutes, observing a panoramic view of the bridge that crosses the Nanay River, considered the longest in Peru, connecting the city with the countryside.
We continue the journey to enter the world's longest and most voluminous river: the Amazon. Information about the Amazon, search for gray dolphins and pink river dolphins. Navigation up the Amazon to the Cumaceba Curaka Inn. Welcome with seasonal fruit refreshment. General briefing and assignment of private bungalows. Typical lunch – Juane.
In the afternoon, jungle walk to discover the area's flora, fauna, and biodiversity. Night walk through the jungle listening to the sounds of insects, amphibians, birds, and more. Canoe excursion depending on the season. Dinner. Jungle stories told by the guide. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 2
Birdwatching in their natural habitat, walking or by canoe. Breakfast.
Excursion to visit a riverside local, where we will see non-venomous boa constrictors, sloths, turtles, and more. Learn the artisanal process of extracting sugarcane juice, including tasting the juice and its derivatives such as cane rum and molasses. Return to the lodge.
Typical fish lunch. In the afternoon, visit to the riverside village “Gallito” to learn about their daily activities. Depending on weather conditions, we’ll witness a beautiful sunset. Dinner. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 3
Breakfast. Fishing along the banks of the Amazon River: catfish, piranhas, among others.
Observation of the Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant in the world. Return to the lodge and enjoy a typical Patarashca lunch.
Time to relax in the hammock area and/or pool. In the afternoon, walk around the area, discovering plants and trees used by locals for medicinal purposes. See the historic rubber or balata tree, cedar, and the majestic lupuna. Dinner. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 4 – Camping Night
Breakfast. At the indicated time, we begin our journey into the virgin jungle. A 1.5-hour walk observing flora and fauna. First stop to prepare lunch. Continue walking to the Yanayacu River, where we will set up camp and spend the night in tents with mosquito nets.
After dinner, night walk to observe nocturnal wildlife. Overnight in the heart of the jungle.
Day 5
Breakfast. Fishing by the Yanayacu River – possible catch: piranhas and catfish. Return to the lodge. Typical self-service lunch. Free time to read or rest in the hammock house. Ideal moment for photography. Typical lunch: cecina with tacacho. Departure for Iquitos. En route, visit to the native Bora community to learn about their customs, dialect, clothing, and traditional dances. We recommend bringing objects to exchange for handmade crafts. Arrival in Iquitos. Transfer to the airport or hotel. End of services.
