Day 1
Iquitos - Cumaceba Amazon Lodge
Reception at the airport of the city of Iquitos.
We will make a short pedestrian city tour, depending on the time of arrival of the flight. Then, transfer to our private jetty to board our boat. From November to July, we will also visit the houseboats.
We will sail along the Amazon River, where we will observe the majesty of the bridge that crosses the Nanay River, which connects the city with the countryside and is considered the largest bridge in Peru. During the trip, we will see the different hamlets settled on the shore of the Amazon.
Upon arrival at Cumaceba Amazon Lodge, we will be greeted with a typical local drink and will proceed with the assignment of private cabins and a tour of the facilities.
Then, we will walk through the primary jungle to get to know the flora and fauna of the place. Lunch will be typical of the area and self-service. In the afternoon, we will take a tour of the Amazon River in search of gray and pink river dolphins. We will visit the Animal Rescue Center, where we can view species such as anacondas, lazy bears, turtles, monkeys, among others.
We will also have the opportunity to try typical aphrodisiac drinks with medicinal power. We will enjoy the sunset over the Amazon, followed by a night walk to observe insects, batrachians, tarantulas, etc.
After dinner, we will share stories and myths of the jungle. We will spend the night at Cumaceba Amazon Lodge.
Day 2
Cumaceba Amazon Lodge - Yaguas - Recreational fishing
Morning canoe tour through the Shansho Coha lagoon, watching birds in their natural habitat. We will meet the legendary Shansho (Hoatzin), a bird of varied and attractive colors, as well as herons, Jacamares, among other species.
Visit to the Yagua native group, where we will learn about their typical dress, dialect and way of life. There will be a demonstration with the blowgun or pucuna, used to hunt birds and small monkeys, and tourists will be able to participate. Return to the lodge for a typical self-service lunch.
In the afternoon, recreational fishing excursion of piranhas and other species with typical fishing canes. In the evening, canoeing to hear the sounds of the humid rainforest and the possibility of observing alligators/caiman.
To finally have dinner and spend the night at Cumaceba Amazon Lodge.
Day 3
Cumaceba Amazon Lodge - Paiches Creader
We will start the day with a morning walk to observe birds in their natural habitat, followed by a breakfast.
Next, we will take a tour of the Amazon River, where we can observe the Arapaima Gigas, known as Paiche, the largest freshwater fish in the world. Afterwards, we will explore a small town to learn about their daily life. Then, we will return to the Cumaceba Amazon Lodge to enjoy a typical lunch.
In the afternoon, we will do a canoe tour through a tributary river called Yana Yacu, famous for its black waters and its ideal beauty for photography.
We will end the day with a dinner and spend the night at the Cumaceba Amazon Lodge.
Day 4
Cumaceba Amazon Lodge - Recreational Fishing - Iquitos
In the morning, we will enjoy a breakfast while we look at the largest aquatic lilac in the world, La Victoria Regia.
Next, we will carry out a recreational fishing excursion with typical canes, where we can capture species such as catfish, sardines and piranhas. Then, we will have a typical lunch in self-service style.
At 2 pm, we will undertake the return to the city of Iquitos. During the journey, we will visit the Kukama native community, where we will learn about their customs, dialect, dances and taste their typical jungle drink, the Masato.
Finally, we will arrive at the city of Iquitos, where the transfer will be made to the hotel or the airport.
