Transfer from Chachapoyas airport to the hotel. Then a tour around the town: you will visit Plaza de Armas, the main streets surrounded by houses with colonial balconies and the Parque de la Independencia. A 20-minute drive and we will visit the native pottery village of Huancas. You will see pottery exhibitions, visit the Sonche Canyon, which is only 1 km away, the viewpoint of Luya Hurco and the Yanayacu Well, known by locals as The Fountain of Love. We return to spend the night in a hotel in Chachapoyas
After a one hour drive along the Utcubamba canyon we will reach the Archaeological Site of Macro. 10 minutes later we arrive at the cable car station. After a 10 minutes shuttle we board the cable car, the first and only in Peru, and enjoy 20 minutes (4 kilometers) of breathtaking views of the Andes. We will arrive at the tourist center from which you we walk 20 minutes to the archaeological site of Kuelap. Our professional tour guide will show you around the archaeological site for 3 hours and explain about the Chachapoyas people, the Kuelap fortress, and other known facts about the area. It is a perfect opportunity to appreciate the largest pre-Inca archeological site in South Americ. After our visit, we return with cable cars to New Tingo where we will have lunch before returning to to spend the night in a hotel in Chachapoyas.
We will drive for one hour along the Valley of Utcubamba River before arriving to the Community of Cocachimba (2,000 m). You will hike (and / or ride a horse) for about two and a half hours, 6 km, to the waterfall, which consists of two perennial drops that pour water into the Cocahuayco River. The trail that leads to Gocta is surrounded by an expansive forest and diverse region of vegetation that is unique to northern Peru. Along the hike, you will be able to stop and have breaks in areas with stunning views of the valley and gain perspective on how large the waterfall truly is. When we arrive to the base of the waterfall you will have some time to yourself to take photos and enjoy the breathtaking views. The walk back to the community should take us 2 hours. We will have lunch in Cocachimba and return to spend the night in a hotel in Chachapoyas.
